Parque das Aves and Foz do Iguaçu Regional Education Center hold the exhibition “Atlantic Rainforest”

This Thursday, November 8th, Parque das Aves will host the Pedagogical Exhibition “Atlantic Rainforest”, linked to the 4th Edition of SOS Fauna: continuing education course in environmental education for teachers.

The Pedagogical Exhibition will be the opportunity for teachers and students to present all the educational actions developed during 2018 talking about the Atlantic Rainforest and the Iguassu National Park as a way to exchange experiences and engage visitors who are in Parque das Aves on the date of the event.

Continuing education

For the past four years, SOS Fauna has contributed to the ongoing training in environmental education of teachers of basic education in Foz do Iguaçu and the region, involving the conservation of the Iguassu National Park and its biological, ecological, cultural and social aspects.

“The SOS Fauna course brings to school and community awareness and reflection on the Iguassu National Park and all its surroundings, continuously strengthening the process of environmental education inside and outside of it. Each year we’re surprised by the creativity of the projects developed by students and teachers from state schools, demonstrating growth and maturity within the proposed theme”, says Daniela Cristina Mendes da Costa, coordinator of environmental education at the Foz do Iguaçu Regional Education Center.

Teachers from the region

In 2018, 25 teachers from state schools in Foz do Iguaçu and the region participated in the course, developing 11 educational projects, involving about 600 students from Elementary School and High School.

The coordinator of the Parque das Aves Environmental Education Department, Camila Martins, says that “the course demonstrates the important and necessary partnerships between zoos and schools in the continuous construction of formative processes that seek the transformation of our socio-environmental reality, bringing to the daily lives of students and teachers the importance of the conservation of the Atlantic Rainforest and, in particular, the Iguassu National Park”.
